Doctor Who Series 9: The Magician's Apprentice ratings

Deadline are reporting that the season premiere of Doctor Who Series 9 was a record-breaking hit for BBC America at the weekend. The Magician's Apprentice amassed a total of 2 million viewers making it the biggest season premiere ever for the channel.

The episode also was No. 1 most social drama of the night based on ListenFirst’s Digital Audience Ratings for Television. It also was the #1 TV brand on Tumblr, the #1 drama on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Read the full Deadline story HERE.

In the UK, it was a slightly different story. Overnight viewing figures suggest that the episode was watched by 4.6 million (with 3.36 million watching live) - the final consolidated figure will be available next week. The Magician's Apprentice was the top rated show for the BBC on the day.
