Doctor Who play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Featured here is the new poster for a Doctor Who-based play heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival next month (click on it for a bigger version).

Titled Who Are You Supposed To Be?, it's a classic tale of a boy in a TARDIS t-shirt standing in front of a girl dressed as the Fifth Doctor, asking her to love him... and a girl demanding to know why she can’t be the Doctor or Han Solo or Captain Reynolds. They’d be star-crossed lovers (Wars and Trek, obviously) but they have so much in common - surely they can find the time and space to fall in love? This is a story about wanting to feel safe, to be appreciated and how far we’ll go to find people like us.

Who Are You Supposed To Be? stars Blogtor Who himself, Cameron K McEwan, in a play that examines gender roles in both science-fiction and fandom and even asks: Why can't The Doctor be a woman...? The show isn’t just about a woman playing the Doctor, though. It is, at its core, a love story where the characters initially bond over pop culture references. As well as love, the show also tackles the issue of anxiety – and how we cope outside our comfort zones.
