From the BBC:

"A fun idea by two BBC staff members has resulted in a hilarious mash up of Doctor Who and Top Gear.

Inspired by his colleague Simon Catt, Matt Taylor of the BBC's Repeats & Reversioning team had the idea of combining David Tennant's appearance in Top Gear's Star In A Reasonably Priced Car slot with clips of the TARDIS in flight from Doctor Who.

The result - with Jeremy Clarkson talking Tennant through his spectacular 'lap' in the Space/Time machine - so impressed their boss Gill Holmes, that it found its way to Mark Harrison, Head of the BBC's Multiplatform Studio and then to Peter Salmon, Chief Creative Officer of the BBC Vision Studio."

DAVID TENNANT - Einstein & Eddington

The BBC have released some info about the forthcoming DAVID TENNANT project, Einstein And Eddington. It is due to be broadcast on BBC2 in the Autumn.

"David Tennant and Andy Serkis star in this drama set amid the chaos and uncertainty of the First World War. Einstein And Eddington chronicles the interlinked stories of two extraordinary men striving for a greater truth while refusing to be constrained by national boundaries.

Albert Einstein (Serkis) spent years working on his General Theory of Relativity, which threatened to overturn two centuries of Newtonian certainty and the foundations of British science. Arthur Eddington (Tennant) was a prominent British astrophysicist who, as a Quaker, believed that "truth knows no boundaries" and bravely championed Einstein’s theories while Britain rejected anything German.

In 1919, Eddington undertook an expedition to Africa to photograph light bending round the sun during an eclipse. These photographs not only proved the theory to be correct, but turned Einstein into a worldwide superstar.

Directed by Philip Martin (Prime Suspect – The Final Act) and written by Peter Moffat (Hawking), Einstein And Eddington co-stars Jim Broadbent, Lucy Cohu, Jodhi May and Rebecca Hall."

SARAH JANE ADVENTURES - Casting News & Spoilers

Filming has been taking place today on the DOCTOR WHO spin~off series THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES. If you would like to learn more of who is appearing and what is happening then click HERE. Be warned, it contains SPOILERS! The casting news will be of interest to old~skool WHO fans.

We don't normally do ratings here at BLOGTOR TOWERS but news is slow and this info is rather astounding. The 'final' viewing figures are in from BARB for THE STOLEN EARTH. A healthy 8.87 million tuned in to see it and this places it at No. 2 in the chart for that week. This is only the second time in the show's history that it has scored so high. Not only that, it is the highest placing for a 'normal' episode ever (ie. not a special). So what beat it you ask? The EURO 2008 final but only by 60,000 or so. Fact fans may note that the BBC3 repeat got just over a million and the Saturday's DOCTOR WHO CONFIDENTIAL got 1.27 million - the highest placed 'multi channel' programme for the week. It's worth pointing out that the penultimate SERIES 4 episode scored an APPRECIATION INDEX of 91 - the highest DOCTOR WHO has ever received and well above most other TV shows.

SERIES 4 reviews

Here follows a list of info that has been forwarded to BLOGTOR TOWERS regarding the 2009 SPECIALS. The info we've included comes from sources who have been correct (or very nearly) in the past so these tidbits should be considered as SPOILERS. Of course, info/casting can change and the specials aren't being filmed until January so some points may not turn out as stated here.

• The first special is to be televised in April 2009. Running time is an hour.

• The second special will be broadcast on Christmas Day and, again, will be an hour.

• The other two specials will be 45 minutes each and hit the small screen sometime between Boxing Day and January 1st 2010. To clarify - the fourth '2009 Special' may actually be broadcast in 2010.

CATHERINE TATE and BERNARD CRIBBINS are to return as Donna Noble and Wilf respectively.

JOHN SIMM is to return reprising his role as THE MASTER.

BRIAN BLESSED is star in one of the specials. It is not clear if he is reprising the role of Yrcanos.

GEORGIA MOFFETT is returning as The Doctor's daughter, Jenny.

THE SEA DEVILS are making a return. They were last seen in the 1984 story WARRIORS OF THE DEEP.

PAUL MCGANN has been said to return as The Eight Doctor by some sources though others (all trusted) say this is not the case but they haven't ruled it out either.

And lastly, another CHILDREN IN NEED special? Could be. Set to appear are: PETER DAVISON, SYLVESTER MCCOY and COLIN BAKER. This has not been sourced as thoroughly as the above bits of info so don't get too excited about it.

For info and pictures from the 2008 Christmas Special, click HERE.

As reported previously, there is an "old friend" returning in the PROMS CUTAWAY. This character is the GRASKE. This scene, and the accompanying concert, is being recorded by the BBC for future broadcast. The Graske first appeared in the the interactive story, ATTACK OF THE GRASKE and then returned in THE SARAH JANE ADVENTURES two~parter, Whatever Happened To Sarah Jane?

According to his officially endorsed site, NOEL CLARKE says the following on the character of Mickey Smith:

"On DOCTOR WHO this Saturday MICKEY SMITH aka NOEL CLARKE (yours truly) is back. And probably (and as far as I'm concerned) the very last time. So any Doctor who fans make sure you switch on an catch your boy in the tardis for the last time."

Missing CATHERINE TATE already? You can read all about what she's up to in an interview with THE TELEGRAPH.

Elsewhere in the media, RTD claims, 'Amy Winehouse would be a great Doctor' in an interview with THE GUARDIAN. There's also some info in there about the future of the show and DAVID TENNANT.
